I had a long and happy career as a freelance photographer so one of my little sidelines since teenage years has been selling cards of my loca area.  When I lived near Epping Forest, that was my first source of inspiration and since moving to Sussex I have enjoyed making and selling cards showing the many lovely views of Brighton where I lived for five years and now Shoreham-by-Sea just five miles down the coast.  It is a much smaller town but has a lovely big empty beach which kitesurfers love and an amazing explosion of colourful rare flowers in May and June springing out from the pebbles.  There is a river with a beautiful old wooden Tollbridge and a new footbridge with glass sides as well as being close to the South Downs National Park and bluebell woods so much scope for photography.  

When I discovered mosaic making I was never happier than when decorating tables and mirrors or making wall hangings and eventually I gave up photography and started teaching mosaic making as well as selling my work. In recent times my creativity has been satisfied by gardening which I take great pleasure from. It suits my love of the outdoors and nature and being able to eat the things I produce is a big bonus! I had been frustrated by having no garden for many years but eventually asked for permission to make a small plot in the communal grounds where I live and have been amazed about how much produce a small space can yield. There is so much to learn, so many challenges and no two years are the same weatherwise so it is a constant source of fascination.
